Criminal Court: The criminal court system that hears felony cases in Shelby County.

 

Disposed Cases: A case that has been disposed of has been completed with the following possible outcomes: acquitted, convicted, dismissed, etc.

 

Expungement: The process by which the record of criminal cases is destroyed or sealed, according to statute.

 

Felony: A criminal offense for which the minimum sentence is one year or more.

 

Indicted: A formal, written charge or accusation of a grand jury charging a crime.

 

Pending Cases: An active case that has not yet been disposed of.
